Friends for half a century, via mail.

Japanese, American childhood pen pals still write.

Maureen Keppy of Forest Lake has seen her best friend face-to-face just twice in their more-than-50-year relationship.

The first time was for 10 minutes at an airport.

"I got to hug her and say hi, and all we did was cry," Keppy said of the 2002 meeting with Chihoko Nakamura.....
